Alix Collins

Alix Collins has 15 years of experience in community development both in the US and abroad, from community engagement to program and project management. She has worked with local governments, nonprofits, and communities throughout the US (South Dakota, Oklahoma, Maine, Indiana, Mississippi, Alabama, North Carolina, Colorado, Louisiana, and Texas) and abroad (Thailand, South Africa, and India).
She is currently the center administrator for the George Washington University International Institute of Tourism Studies, where she manages the institute’s projects and programs and provides support for its events, communications, and three professional certificate programs. She is the current program manager for the South Dakota Native Tourism Alliance, Indigenous Tourism Collaborative of the Americas (ITCA), and the project manager for the Choctaw Destination Management Plan and the South Dakota Destination Development Program.
Previously, she served as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Center for Responsible Travel (CREST). There, in addition to her communications and marketing duties, she provided project management support for the Lake Tahoe Destination Stewardship Plan and served as the project manager for the Taos Destination Stewardship Plan.
She holds a BA in history and political science from Boston University and an MPA in economic development and policy analysis from Indiana University.
